517 days and 18 months
In early summer of 2020 and the height of the coronavirus I told my husband Will “I think I want to keep our kids home this year and teach them” . Not knowing what the season would entail in my life I felt very determined to take it on. Each day was filled with helping my then 6 year old complete her assignments, teaching my 6 year old to read and my preschooler her ABCs. Days were filled with many hugs, love, and togetherness. I did not know how my business would go with all the educating that was going on. What I learned through it was first things first. My business started in 2015 with a small idea in my head and a growing hobby. Pretty soon calligraphy encompassed everything in my life. But, in 2020, I learned the important things. Family. Kids. Teaching. To my surprise there was still time for business in amongst all the educating. 517 days and 18 months later, both of my children are headed back to school. I always thought I would go full time with my business by the time they both left for school. 2020 slowed me down in a way, it made me see the important things, the important moments. Although, I love what I do. It is not everything to me anymore. The simple moments are, the present moments are.
